Since the month of August is Animal Stories, I picked up this book at Target for the book challenge. This is the book that I have for the book giveaway this week. Enter the giveaway!
This book was a unique story. It is a about a wife, Helena, who was a veterinarian and returns after she dies of cancer to witness what happens to her lawyer husband and her animals on her farm after she is gone. She is also afraid that she will have to see all the animals that she chose to end their lives.
One of the main events of the story is about a friend of Helena who fights to save the life of a chimp who is property of the Federal government, however, she has taught the chimp to communicate with her using the computer. This event encompassed most of the story which was okay, however, I thought from the cover that the book was going to be mostly about a dog. Not so! I think they should have put a chimp on the front cover if they wanted to portray the true story.
If you are an animal lover, I guarantee you will cry during this story. This book shows how deep the relationships are between animals and humans.
I would give this book four stars!
I have three dogs that I love sharing my life with. They go to work with me every day!
Until next time, keep curling up with a good book....
