I have always loved reading since I can remember! In fact, since I grew up in a neighborhood with lots of kids that always came by my house to play, in order to stay in and read, my parents would tell my friends that I had been punished!
I taught elementary school for 14 years and have spent the last 10 years working with my husband. Now that I have more personal free time I am able to read more throughout the year and not just in the summertime.
I have a Kindle, a Nook and an Ipad2 that I use to read books as well. Although I have these electronic readers, I still like my books better!

I read "The Infancy Narratives" during the Advent season this year which of course was very appropriate!
I thoroughly enjoyed Pope Benedict's explanation along with scripture of the events leading to Jesus' birth and those events that followed. Even though I have heard or read about it many times, it still never ceases to amaze me and also helps to strengthen my faith.
From the time that Mary says, "Yes" to God till the time when Mary and Joseph are filled with anxiety like all parents at some time, because they cannot find Jesus among their "pilgrim community" at the end of their first day's trip back home. They later return to Jerusalem to find Jesus still in God's temple.
Pope Benedict has expanded my understanding of the story of Jesus' early years with several facts that I wasn't fully aware. First, I always thought that Jesus was born in a stable, however, it actually was more likely a cave and also I didn't realized that Mary and Joseph had actually left Jerusalem and didn't realize Jesus was not among the "pilgrim community" until the end of a whole day of traveling back home from Jerusalem! I can only imagine how fearful they must have been.
I have the first in the series of Pope Benedict's books about Jesus of Nazareth which I now plan on reading, however, I am glad that I actually read his last in the series first!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to know more about Jesus Christ our Savior especially during his early years!
